Meet Uncle Billy and his wife Sue. Bill comes from a pioneering family and is a fourth generation member to operate a farming enterprise in the Wandsworth/Ben Lomond area. Yoolimba, which means land of tall trees, is a working farm.Lake Yoolimba was built in 1975 and covers 15 acres. It was originally built to irrigate in dry times, however Bill a keen trout fisherman decided to stock the lake with trout fingerlings so the family could enjoy recreational fishing. In 1995 it was decided to diversify and Uncle Billy?s Farmstay and Fishing Retreat became a reality. 20 years on, the Retreat has become very popular. The fishout was increased to include more lakes and ?The Lodge?, a self contained double brick cabin, was built in 1999.The peacefulness and privacy that Uncle Billy?s offers, has attracted guests from all over Australia and the World. The variety of birds that habitat the lakes creates an environmental heaven.Bill and Sue have 3 married sons, Mark, John and Rob and 11 grandchildren. Uncle Billy?s would not have eventuated without the help initially, of all three sons. Two of the families live on adjoining properties and John lives at Guyra, 31 klms from Yoolimba.Bill and Sue have recently semi retired, but are still actively involved with running the Farmstay. Bill is also enjoying growing and preparing cattle for shows. Sue is spending more time in her garden. Mark and Rob and their families run the property. More crops are being grown and primarily fat lambs are grazed with the addition of a few cattle. The past 3 years have been very challenging with the lack of rain and the increased summer temperatures. Hopefully weather conditions will change for the better, in the near future.
