Book Direct with the Owner at Derby Jetty with Tourism Guide in Derby, for all your Attraction and travel needs.
See massive tidal movements and be amazed by the power of the ocean at Derby Jetty in the Kimberley region. Located just north of Derby town site, the jetty experiences the biggest tidal range in Australia ? up to an incredible 12 metres. It?s a great place to go fishing but make sure you check the tides. Two to three hours either side of high tide are the best times. You can catch mud crabs, catfish, shark, salmon and the occasional barramundi. The jetty is lit at night making it the perfect place to watch the sunset. While the water looks inviting, don?t be tempted to swim as salt water crocodiles are found in the area. The jetty has an interesting history. Its current structure was built in the early 1960s and replaced a wooden jetty from 1885. Back then it was used for the export of live cattle. You can see a pictorial version of the jetty?s history, the seasons, and wildlife of the area at Centenary Pavilion at the entrance to the jetty on a large mosaic tile floor. Here, you?ll also find seating, toilets, a kiosk and restaurant which opens between April and December....Tourism Guide welcomes Derby Jetty, the ideal Derby WA Holiday outlet for all the family to enjoy. We have made sure that we have thought of everything you would expect from your vacation with many features, click on the email or phone now button to get in touch with the owner.
